Honors in Sociology is an opportunity to conduct research as a budding sociologist. I offer honors contracts for up to five students each semester. Students who sign an Honors Contract with me will conduct research on a sociology topic of their choice and will apply steps of the scientific method to explore the topic in depth. I offer one on one consultations as you go along the way.
Students will need to fill out some forms for the contract. These forms will be available in the Honors Contract information in the "Introduction to the Class" Module in Canvas. There is a deadline for the forms so please pay attention to those dates for each semester. For Spring 2023, please submit the Honors Contract form to me via email tha@miracosta.edu by end of day on January 30.

For Spring 2023, Honors Contracts are offered my 8 week online SOC 101 courses. In addition to the regular course work, Honors Contract students will complete a research study. Interested in presenting your research at a conference? Check out the information on available Honors Conferences. Students who would like to participate in a conference will receive additional support from me as a faculty mentor. I've mentored many Honors projects in my time as a MiraCosta professor. Many of the student presenters won awards and received scholarships. If you're interested, connect with me to discuss!
